Stonewall Inn’s Landmark status in Question with Trump’s next Exec. Order
According to the Salt Lake Tribune,
“On Wednesday, Trump will sign an executive order to demand that the Interior Department secretary examine all national monument designations in the past 21 years to discern whether their size and scope are within the law’s intent, a move that tracks clearly with concerns of members of Utah’s federal delegation about the use of the unilateral presidential power in designating monuments.”
As if the Executive Order happy orange despot doesn’t have enough legitimate concerns, now he’s making shit up for show-n-tell signing photo-ops. So what does this have to do with the Stonewall Inn?

“President Obama designated the site as a National Monument just last year, saying: “Stonewall will be our first national monument to tell the story of the struggle for LGBT rights.”
However, a question mark will now be put over its status, as President Trump is expected to order a review of all the monuments designated by his predecessor…
Speaking about the designation previously, President Obama had said: “I’m designating the Stonewall National Monument as the newest addition to America’s National Park System. “Stonewall will be our first national monument to tell the story of the struggle for LGBT rights. I believe our national parks should reflect the full story of our country, the richness and diversity and uniquely American spirit that has always defined us.”

Given the Trump Administration’s rabid anti-LGBT personnel from Mike Pence to Jeff Sessions, Rex Tillerson, Ben Carson, etc., it’s not hard to imagine that the landmark status of Stonewall could very easily be rescinded. What’s more, the conservative base, evangelical Christians, and white nationalists who put Trump in office have been foaming at the mouth because their Fuehrer hasn’t moved against the gays yet and “pushed us back into second class citizenship where we belong.” All he has to do is cloak it in a federal budget cut to pay for his “tremendous wall” and it will be a done deal fast than you can say Christopher Street.
