Patti LuPone Sits Down with Stephen Colbert, Everybody Rise! — VIDEO
There are legendary divas of Broadway and then there’s Patti LuPone. She is in a class unto herself not only for her uniquely brilliant talent but her direct, no nonsense and unbridled personality.
Patti LuPone doesn’t suffer fools easily; she doesn’t suffer fools at all. Period. FULL STOP
She is notorious for speaking her mind and taking matters into her own hands whenever and wherever. In 2017 on the Tony Award’s red carpet, a foolish reporter ask her the most asinine question.
Safe to assume that reporter is still writing obituaries for Variety.
If Patti LuPone has one pet peeve above all else, it’s bad behavior by audience members. In 2016 she made news when she “corrected” an audience as she exited the stage who was constantly texting during the performance.
Most recently the newly Tony nominated Best Featured Actress in a musical went viral for double tapping an audience member who thought they could go toe to toe with La LuPone.

To that woman in the audience…
Patti LuPone deserves a special Tony Award for saying and doing exactly what every one of us who’ve ever sat next to one of these self-absorbed, inconsiderate, asswipes who think the rules don’t apply to them and wanted to do exactly what she does.
Patti LuPone sat down with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show to filled him in on what we didn’t see in that viral video and more.
Then she sang to him and showed why she is the Patti LuPone.
