May 17th, International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia

Today marks the 13th annual observation of International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, founded by Louis-Georges Tin.  What started with a mere 24,000 participants and a handful of organization is now a globally recognized more than 300 NGOs in over 75 countries.

The main purpose if IDAHOT “is to raise awareness of violence, discrimination, and repression of LGBT communities worldwide, which in turn provides an opportunity to take action and engage in dialogue with the media, policymakers, public opinion, and wider civil society.”
