A Song for the Season: Tom Goss’ Gay Christmas
It’s called “the most wonderful time of the year,” but for many in our Community it is unquestionably the most difficult, painful and lonely. The holidays stir up deep rooted memories of rejection indelibly tied to our families. For some even so-called acceptance and love is strained, conditional, and judgmental. Home for the holidays is anything but a Hallmark card.
“Sooner or later, though, no matter where in the world we live, we must join the diaspora, venturing beyond our biological family to find our logical one, the one that actually makes sense for us.”
― Armistead Maupin, Logical Family: A Memoir
Last year, out singer/songwriter, Tom Goss recorded “Gay Christmas” a bittersweet track that plays on what it means to be gay and gay at the holidays. This is how he dedicates it.
“This video is for those who have felt like an outsider on what is supposed to be the happiest time of the year. If you don’t feel at home this holiday season, I hope you can spend time with those that love you for all that you are.”
