All-Male “A Clockwork Orange” headed Off Broadway: VIDEO PREVIEW
By TheatreRat
Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 landmark film based on Anthony Burgess’ novel set in dystopian British society following the exploits of Alex DeLarge and his “Droogs’ may not be everyone’s cup of tea; but the all-male UK production opening off Broadway in September will definitely have audiences drowning in eye candy. From the production’s website,
“A CLOCKWORK ORANGE lures audiences into a glass-edged, testosterone-filled underworld of a dystopian future. The explosive story of little Alex and his rebellious gang of Droogs is a ground-breaking classic of orgiastic ultra-violence and sexuality.”

According to Playbill.com,
“The all-male staging hails from Action to the Word, a U.K.-based theatre group that presents radical interpretations of classics. The production began at the London Fringe prior to playing the Edinburgh Festival, an international tour, and London’s Park Theatre.
British actor, Jonno Davies will make his New York debut this fall in a stage adaptation of A Clockwork Orange. He reprises his performance from the acclaimed London run of the Alexandra Spencer-Jones production.”

“The entire 2-hour production was outlined with strong hues of homoeroticism and seemingly glorified sex and violence. Moreover, with an all-male cast, it set the tone for an evening of high-octane testosterone filled night, determined to bring the classic tale to life.”
