Taylor Mac, “You’ve got to incorporate the calamity” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Performance: WATCH
Queer writer, performance artist, chanteuse, and glitter-glam force of nature, Taylor Mac blew into “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” for a sit-down and performance last night. Suffice it to say the Ed Sullivan Theater is still trying to recover today.
In an interview as vibrant as his bedazzled, sequin festooned drag designed by collaborator Machine Dazzle, Mac discussed his 24 hour epic performance piece, A 24-Decade History of Popular Music; his gender pronoun, judy; and “the orange thing’s role as the “heckler in American history.”
To close the show, Mac performed Patti Smith’s “People have the Power.” Suffice it to say, the Ed Sullivan Theater is still recovering from the storm of fabulous defiance and resistance that blew across its stage!
