Sounds of Pride: Billy Porter’s defiant “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair”

One of the many things music does in our Community is serve as a defiant call to action.   When that message is sung by a Grammy and Tony winning force of nature like Billy Porter, you better listen up!  Such is the case with his fierce take on the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.”

The track comes from Billy’s latest album, Billy Porter Presents The Soul of Richard Rodgers.”  In an interview with Randy Slovacek, writer/editor of the Award winning LGBT blog, “The Randy Report”  and podcast Billy Porter had this to say.

“James Baldwin says, ‘An artist’s job is to disturb the peace!’

I take my job very seriously.  Get your war clothes on kids, it’s time to fight!  #resistyall.”

Preach Billy, Preach!
