Rocketman’s “I’m Gonna Love Me Again” wins the Golden Globe marking a First for Elton John and Bernie Taupin

After 52 years together, its hard to imagine anything Sir Elton John and lyricist, partner, and lifelong mate, Bernie Taupin haven’t achieved in their storied career together   Turns out there is and its surprising.

With more than 300 million albums sold, 51 platinum albums across five decades, 57 single “Top 40” hits in the US, with 27 of these hitting the “Top Ten” and nine reaching Number One, the songwriting duo has never received a major award for their work together.

But that got corrected last night at the Golden Globe Awards.

“I’m Gonna Love Me Again,” the song they wrote for the spectacular Elton John musical biopic, Rocketman, won them their first shared award as “Best Song.”

“I’m Gonna Love Me Again,” is performed by Elton John and Taron Egerton, who won a “Best Actor” Golden Globe for his portrayal of the megastar in Rocketman.

With the 92nd Academy Award nominations coming on January 13th, could Oscar turn the trio into a quartet on February 9th?
