“Here Comes The Sun,” The Inauguration of Joseph R. Biden and Kamala D. Harris
While so many songs seem appropriate for this historic moment of what I can only describe feels like America’s day of salvation, the Beatles’s “Here Comes the Sun” popped into my mind this morning. Like the wind blowing through Washington today, Joe Biden’s promise to be a “champion of the light” gives me hope and Kamala Harris’s laughter gives me joy.
It also reminds me of a quote from Mark Twain about laughter that we need after the dark days of an attempted insurrection and assault on the Capitol where they take their oaths to protect and defend the US Constitution.
“[Humanity] has unquestionably one really effective weapon—laughter. Power, money, persuasion, supplication, persecution—these can lift at a colossal humbug—push it a little—weaken it a little, century by century; but only laughter can blow it to rags and atoms at a blast. Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand.”
Here Comes the Sun America
Congratulations
President Biden and
Madame Vice President Harris!
