Anthony Rapp alleges sexual advances when he was 14 by Kevin Spacey

In the three short weeks since the abhorrent Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment/assault scandal broken in Hollywood, two things were certain.  It was only a matter of time before “opened” on Broadway and it involved a gay closet case.  But in a twist worthy of the best American playwright it sadly involves an underage boy.

In a story that broke Sunday, openly gay stage and screen actor, Anthony Rapp alleges in an article in Buzzfeed.com the Tony and two-time Oscar winner, Kevin Spacey sexually advances and tried to seduce him after a party at his apartment in 1986.  Rapp was only 14yo; Spacey was 26. 

According to the article,

“He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me,” Rapp said.

“He was trying to seduce me. I don’t know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually,” Rapp added.

In response to the story Spacey tweeted this apology.

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear this story… I honestly do not remember the encounter … But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior …”

Spacey then went on make this announcement

“…I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.”

Awww Hell NO! 

Kevin you don’t get to dump your perverted pedophile shit on the LGBT doorstep in an attempt to change the subject from what you did! 

• What the hell were you thinking/doing inviting a 14yo boy to a party at your apartment in the first damn place???
• We’ve all done regrettable drunk shit, but you don’t remember picking up a 14yo boy; carrying him to the bed and climbing on top of him? You couldn’t have been that drunk if managed all that.  Bitch Please!
• On behalf of the entire LGBT Community, we’d like to thank you, Kevin Spacey for reinforcing the false belief that GAY=PEDOPHILE which we’ve been fighting against for decades!

This morning Rapp tweeted this,

“I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me,”

“Everything I wanted to say about my experience is in that article, and I have no further comment about it at this time.”

Anthony, thank you for speaking out about this harrowing and painful episode in your life.  Your courage and strength is sure to inspire others to follow you example.
