At least that’s what we imagine happened when the Rancid Kumquat saw this morning’s interview with John Berman (and don’t think for a minute he wasn’t watching during his “executive time’).
If anything good has come out of the current Reich… er um presidency, it’s the fabulous career of the chanteuse of song parody, Randy Rainbow. His rise from obscure YouTuber to Emmy nominated performer (that’s right! He’s up for a 2019 Emmy Award for his song parody “Barr.” from Beauty and the Beast) is the stuff Broadway, political, and gay legends are made of. What’s more he done without the help of Hal Prince, a Fairy Godmother, or the Russians.
CNN’s John Berman sat down with the Divine Miss R for this in interview on “New Day” for the truth about his name, career, and Hooters. (Hooters? We didn’t see that coming in a million years.)
It. Is. His. Real. Name.

The video that sent Randy’s career over the rainbow.
And garnered him a 2019 Emmy nomination!
