If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Randy Rainbow must be strutting around today like a drag queen at a Pride Parade after last night’s parody on The Late Late Show with James Corden!

Tim Minchin composer/lyricist of Matilda – the musical (and Broadway’s current Groundhog Day – the musical) spoofed his own work imagining Trump and his advisors as children with their abhorrent desires and maniacal dreams for the future.  From Playbill.com.

“On March 20, Minchin brought his knack for pointed lyrics to The Late Late Show with James Corden. In an “excerpt” from Donald The Musical, Minchin portrayed Donald Trump in a version of Matilda’s “When I Grow Up.” Decked in full British schoolboy attire, he was joined by Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt as Sean Spicer, Tony winner and host James Corden as Steve Bannon, and Abigail Spencer as Kellyanne Conway.”
