Opening to epic reviews, the 25th anniversary production of Angels in America seems less a revival and more a fulfillment of prophecy, or perhaps more accurately, dark foreshadowing of the original.  Tony Kushner’s landmark “gay fantasia on national themes” is as illuminating as it is sinister in the contemporary parallels of a world infected by a virus and the willful apathy of a Conservative government.

 

PBS’s Christiane Amanpour sat down with the Pulitzer winning playwright and Andrew Garfield, who plays AIDS victim Prior Walter in the nearly eight hour masterwork for an in depth interview about the production, politics, and the place of Angels in the world.
